History

The Friendship Progressive Baptist Church was organized on September 8th, 2012 by Pastor Michael A. Cokes, Sr., first Lady Tangie Cokes.   The first service was held on September 9th 2012 in the Sheridan Four Point in Brown Deer Wisconsin.  The following Wednesday we had Bible Study at our first location at 3276 North Palmer Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212.  There was a board meeting called September 10th 2012 at Applebee’s and more than 18 members attended. Since that time our ministry purchased a new campus located 2127 West Garfield Avenue Milwaukee located on 3 acres of land.

On June 11, 2016, The City of Faith Church transitioned from a plan in the mind of God to a thought in the heart of man, Dr. Michael A. Cokes, Sr.  Whether it was the forty-seven percent of adults, 40 and below, in Milwaukee County who consider themselves unchurched or non-Christian or the close to fifty percent of families, households with children under the age of eighteen whom do not consider themselves practicing Christians, we believe they were in the mind of God when He blew life into The City of Faith Church! The City of Faith church, a place of praise, a place of love and a place of faith!
